Coronavirus / COVID-19 and Pest Control Services
The COVID-19 outbreak has led to the shutdown of many businesses as we all commit to reducing unnecessary contact to limit the spread of the virus.
Since the end date of this quarantine is currently unknown, your house may very well be in need of pest treatment while everything is still on lockdown.
Fortunately, state and federal regulators have declaring pest control an Essential service, which will allow pest control providers to remain active during the quarantine.
But even if they are still allowed, it is critical that pest control application is done in a safe way that follows guidelines for social distance and limiting exposure.
Answers to your questions regarding COVID-19 and pest control:
Will service be limited by the coronavirus quarantine?
We can’t speak for the industry at large, but for Canton Termite and Pest Control, our immediate response is to perform exterior treatments during the quarantine. This will minimize exposure risk and keep you and our team safe.
Exterior treatments will prevent pest threats from infiltrating your home. The need for termite treatment will be particularly high as we are now entering Termite swarm season.
For those customers who need specialty interior treatments or would prefer interior treatments for any reason, we will be happy to reschedule them for a future date whenever it is once again deemed safe.
Do pest problems increase my risks during a quarantine?
As far as we know, the coronavirus cannot be carried by insects. Therefore, pest control has no direct influence over your susceptibility to COVID-19. However, insects do still present health concerns. Mosquitos and Roaches, for example, are a major carrier of disease in Georgia.
That said, the cleanliness of your home is a critical part of safety during a pandemic. Pests by their very nature spread filth, so it certainly is beneficial to your general health to keep pests out of your home.
We encourage everyone to follow the protection guidelines provided by the CDC, WHO, and other experts.
In the midst of a lockdown, should I even be concerned about pest control?
You are probably dealing with a lot right now, and pest control may be far from your mind. But while we grapple with COVID-19, other issues and challenges remain just as real and relevant.
Georgia has experienced an unusually high level of rainfall this year, and with that will come above average pest activity. Roaches, Ants, Mosquitoes, termites, ticks, and other threats may assail your home, and your best bet for protection is preventative treatment.
This is a challenging and frightening time for us all, but we have to do our part to minimize the viral threat we face and prepare for returning to our lives when it is gone.
